WLBOTT Gets a Parking Ticket

Today WLBOTT received a strongly worded email from the Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection.

We initially assumed the email was from our loyal followers from mainland China, since they represent the majority of our visitors. However, the email references both yuan (mainland China) and NT (Taiwan). The note also refers to the FETC, which is the Taiwanese e-tag toll system.

It is important to clarify the country of origin, because WLBOTT’s delinquent fees vary significantly depending on the currency:

The Strongly Worded Email

For those of you who are a little rusty in your Chinese skills, here is the translation:

Parking record verification process progress notification – Number

Parking Record Update and Follow-up Notice
Based on the information compiled and compared by our company’s parking data system, we have confirmed that your vehicle incurred a parking fee of 46 yuan in the designated parking area. This notice is to inform you of the relevant parking record details and the necessary follow-up procedures.

Parking Record Inquiry Information
Parties involved can directly access the “FETC Toll Service Page” to inquire about the time, location, and fee details of their parking session. The system also provides a function to download and save the records for future reference.

II. Other Inquiry and Service Channels

If online inquiry is not possible, you may use the following channels to make inquiries:
• Convenience store multimedia kiosks
• Counters of cooperating financial institutions
• FETC service centers

The services, methods, and operating hours of each channel are subject to the latest announcements.

III. Subsequent Processing Time and Fee Explanation
Further details regarding the handling of this case, including required actions and deadlines, will be specified in a separate formal notice.
Failure to comply within the specified timeframe may result in the imposition of an administrative fee in accordance with standard parking violation procedures (example: parking fee NT$46 + administrative fee NT$10).
The actual fee amount and calculation method will be as stated in the formal notice.

IV. Handling of Disputes Regarding Parking Records

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the parking record, billing method, or rates, you may submit a dispute application within thirty days of receiving the official notification. Please include relevant supporting documents to facilitate the review process in accordance with regulations.

We Confirm the Email’s Legitimacy

A quick Gemini inquiry quelled any fears we had of the email’s legitimacy.

We followed the email’s easy to use payment service, and are now in good standing with both Mainland China and Taiwan.

I’m going to have to leave it there, because I seem to be getting quite a few text messages from my bank.

George Pitches In

You are all familiar with our marketing intern George (he’s single, ladies!). George became aware of our parking ticket email concerns, and immediately interview many, many consulting companies. His main focus appears to be their Chinese language skills.
