And the sun pours down like honey On our lady of the harbour And she shows you where to look Among the garbage and the flowers
- Suzanne, by Leonard Cohen
Our Lady of the Harbor
Elder G, is life impossible?
If we take it literally—no, life isn’t impossible. It’s astonishingly improbable, maybe even miraculous, but here we are: carbon and stardust arranged in just the right way to sing, think, love, and even worry about questions like this.
If you mean it more existentially —
There’s also the paradox: things that seem impossible (whales rebounding, peace after war, people surviving loss) do happen. Life has a strange way of breaking through the “impossible.”
