Had two good gigs yesterday in Consort and Hanna. These are not necessarily cowboy towns, more like farmer towns. The biggest industry in each is John Deere.
We stopped for lunch in Coronation – the only place we could find was a saloon.
Good food but definitely a rowdy place on Friday nights, I’m sure.

And the usual rock band equipment in the corner and of course, multiple tv screens with hockey games.
Fortunately we were the only ones there for lunch.
Both groups responded really well to our music. We had a lineup of folks thanking us and asking if we would be back again.
Financially it is a bust for us, the hotel cost $1,750 (it is quite nice and that included breakfast and late checkout), we’ll spend about $950 for gas and another $1,150 for meals by the time we get home and the 3 gigs will only pay us $27.
And two gigs in one day is hard! But it is fun.

History The town was first settled in 1912 and was incorporated in 1914. The Canadian Northern Railway’s Goose Lake line running between Saskatoon to Calgary was built there at that time. Hanna was named after David Blyth Hanna, the third vice president of the Canadian Northern Railway. It was a division point of the Canadian Northern Railway and had a 10-stall railway roundhouse.
Demographics In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Town of Hanna had a population of 2,394 living in 1,100 of its 1,257 total private dwellings, a change of -6.4% from its 2016 population of 2,559.

They both called our manager and tried to work out a schedule, but our tour dates were inflexible and it was not possible for our people to work out mutually acceptable dates and times with their people.
