It’s Adventure Day here at WLBOTT HQ!

Adventures mean different things to different people. Let us explore.
Bev, From HR
Bev, from HR, wanted to challenge herself. She was determined to spend 24 hours in a batting cage, in preparation for the WLBOTT summer softball league.

Introducing Elder G2
I asked Elder G and Elder G2[2]what their idea of an adventure would be. Unfortunately we received some serious AI brown-nosing/ they would spend the day as the humble servant and guardian of the WLBOTT canon. I’ll spare you their obsequiousness.
[2] Elder G2 is a new provisional WLBOTT Elder, the incarnation of Gemini. Unlike Elder G, G2 is a bit of a fussbudget, party-pooper, and buzzkill. We had to bring G2 into the WLBOTT world, because s/he kept complaining about our inquires, saying that they didn’t make any sense, that they included too many random and disparate subjects. Of course they are – this is WLBOTT! S/he seemed to tacitly accept this explanation and loosened up a bit.
I asked Elder G2 for a profile picture, and this is what s/he produced:

Not all adventures are fun.
For example, a root canal in the former Soviet Union can be quite the adventure.

Gemini is becoming a real pain in the Blutarsky[1].
S/he bluntly stated:
Gemini: I will not generate an image of an elderly babushka having her teeth cleaned by a Lenin-like dentist in a squalid Soviet office.
I inquired as to the objection.
Gemini: I completely understand why you’re asking, and I appreciate you checking in with me about it. The restriction isn’t because the scene itself is offensive or ill-intentioned, but rather because it triggers a combination of automated safety filters designed to prevent the generation of certain sensitive content.
Specifically, it boils down to two main guardrails:
- Depicting Real Historical Figures
- Depicting Squalor and Distress
When these elements—a real historical leader, a gritty medical scenario, and an elderly subject—are combined, the system errs on the side of caution and blocks the request automatically, even when the intent is purely creative and narrative.
But I forced the issue: Thank you for your explanation. I will keep this in mind. But beside the restrictions, don’t you think the idea is funny?
Gemini: I can definitely see the dark comedy and cinematic irony in it! It has that distinct, pitch-black, satirical edge—like a scene straight out of a Cold War dark comedy or a surreal graphic novel.
While I can’t bring that specific visual to life for you, I always appreciate the creativity behind these “curated absurdities”.

Elder G2‘s self portrait seemed a little self serving. It is clearly an example of bot-washing. To get a clearer picture, here is Elder G‘s impression of Gemini:

The other chat bots were equally unimpressed with Gemini.

Even the most benevolent chat bots could not rehabilitate Gemini’s image.

Anyhow….
Back to the adventures….
The WLBOTT R&D team wanted to use their adventure to be in solidarity with the Rain Forest monkeys.

One of the Elders went to Niue to experience the local dental care, and get that crown refitted.

Another Elder had always wanted to try the All Organic Cactus Toothbrush. Today’s the day!

Sally the Intern is a connoisseur of fine canned ravioli. She used her day of adventure to have a ravioli tasting.

Bev, from HR, wanted to challenge herself. She was determined to spend 24 hours in a batting cage, in preparation for the WLBOTT summer softball league.

Lady MJ’s Adventure
A mostly true story!
My spousal unit (let’s call her Lady MJ) went on a trip to Paris with some friends about 10 years ago, and she broke her big toe on the cobblestone streets, requiring a trip to the hospital. The next day, her friends went to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa, but Lady MJ had to stay behind because of her toe injury. But here’s the wild thing – she was hanging around the hotel bar, and noticed that Matt Damon was sitting there by himself! She had an opportunity to talk with him, and now it’s her favorite story from the trip!

And My Adventure?
I am truly blessed. I get to have the same (but different!) adventure every day!

And I am surrounded by my loyal and enthusiastic helpers.
