After successfully concluding all WLBOTT corporate business, the Elder culinary break-out team got to work.

For inspiration, let’s reflect on Steven Fromholz’s beautiful poetry:

Six o'clock silence of a new day beginning
Is heard in a small Texas town
Like a signal from nowhere the people who live there
Are up and moving around
’Cause there's bacon to fry
There's biscuits to bake
On the stove that the Salvation Army won’t take
You open the windows and you turn on the fan

We hand-crafted the following culinary delights:

  • Soy chorizo / potato / cheddar cheese
  • Anchovy / pickled egg / beets
  • Crab salad
  • Sauteed mushrooms and onions
  • Pepperoni / mozzarella
  • Spinach / feta

A couple of observations:

  • A whole lot more work than I realized, even after doing all the prep work the day before
  • Verenyky dough is a harsh mistress – the wrappers were thick and tough, and could be used as mortar in certain building operations
  • After ingesting, the perogies are on a 5-day / 7 night journey through the unsuspecting digestive track.
