Elder KM provides us with our first WLBOTT screenplay!
The natural Ukrainian folktale would be Kolobok, or “fried ball of dough” who escapes into the forest from his owners and outwits several predators only to ultimately be tricked by a fox, reimagined as a ball of twine 🙂

What a wonderful idea!
The Kolobok – A Cautionary Tale
An old man and a old woman, who are very poor, realize they have no food. The old woman scrapes together the last bit of flour from the bottom of her flour bin to make a small, round loaf of bread.

She bakes the “kolobok” and places it on a windowsill to cool.
However, the kolobok comes alive, rolls off the windowsill and escapes into the forest!
As it rolls away, it meets several animals – a rabbit, a wolf, and a bear. Each animal threatens to eat the kolobok!
To save itself, the kolobok sings a clever little song, boasting about how it escaped from its grandparents and is too fast for them. It then rolls away, outwitting each animal in turn.

Finally, the kolobok meets a sly fox. The fox pretends to be hard of hearing and asks the kolobok to sit on its nose and sing the song again. The kolobok, full of pride and arrogance from its previous successes, agrees.
As soon as the kolobok is on the fox’s nose, the fox quickly flips it into the air and eats it!
