We recently finished the Sci Fi novel <strong>The Ministry for the Future<\/strong> by Kim Stanley Robinson, and the concept of albedo plays an important part of the plot. During the late 70&#8217;s and 80&#8217;s who had a clever series called &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eyebeam_(comic_strip)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eyebeam<\/a><\/strong>&#8220;.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"222\" class=\"wp-image-9000\" style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wlbott.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Sam_Barton-Creek_wb-e1490853884978.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In one strip, <strong>Eyebeam <\/strong>is chatting with his buddy <strong>Ratliff <\/strong>before class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eyebeam <\/strong>asks, &#8220;Do you want to reminisce about the past?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a long pause, then <strong>Ratliff <\/strong>says, &#8220;Remember how salty play dough was?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the Eyebeam characters, <strong>Hank the Hallucination<\/strong>, actually ran for, and won the office of student president at the University of Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct. 19, <strong>Hank T. Hallucination<\/strong> entered the race for student body president against Begala. Hank was a character from the comic strip \u201cEyebeam,\u201d published in the <em>Texan<\/em>. A green, dinosaur-ish monster, Hank was exactly what his name suggested: a hallucination. Even in the imaginary world created by the comic\u2019s artist, Sam Hurt, BA \u201980, JD \u201983, Hank wasn\u2019t real. But that didn\u2019t stop his momentum. At least 1,000 students signed a referendum to ensure that Hank\u2019s write-in votes would be counted and announced. A rally was held\u2014Hankstock\u2014in support of his candidacy. He was described wryly as a \u201cdream candidate\u201d by his campaign manager, a savvy law student named Steve Patterson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hank went on to win the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doubly fictional entities cannot serve<\/strong>, of course, and Begala won the runoff.<\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/alcalde.texasexes.org\/2015\/07\/the-underdogs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Texas Exes<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early <strong>Eyebeam <\/strong>classics can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gocomics.com\/eyebeam-classic\/1978\/10\/05\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr
